The Protea Institute is a non-governmental organization that funds surgery, exams, consultations, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy for breast cancer for low-income women.
Protea was founded in 2018 based on the observation that, in Brazil, thousands of women are waiting to be seen and treated in the public health service, since more than 75% of the population depends on it.
It is the view of Protea Institute that every woman has the right to receive dignified, high-quality, and timely treatment after the diagnosis of breast cancer.
